7 p.m.
Friday, December 19
Inanna's Home Studio
Back by popular demand. We're continuing our several-years-long tradition of hosting what is now the annual Winter Holiday Hafla.
We always have too much food, because everyone's more interested in drumming and dancing than eating. I will have a few munchies and some non-alcoholic beverages. If there is something in particular that you would like to eat or drink and the spirit moves you to bring it ... feel free to do so.
You can find us at 841 NE Barnes Ave.; Village of Oaks, Missouri 64118.
We're easy to find, near the major intersection of N. Oak Trafficway and Englewood Road north of the river in the KC Metro area. If you require directions or have questions, our phone is (816) 453-7122.

Re: Holiday Hafla
Thu, December 4, 2008 - 7:43 PMAlso -- I forgot to add -- I spoke with M'Chelle about what we needed to do to raise funds to bring Kaeshi of Bellyqueen and her drummer to Kansas City, so they can teach us the dances and rhythms we need to know to have an official chapter of PURE (Public Urban Ritual Experience).
The Floating Haflas will always be free of charge for any drummers and dancers who would like to attend.
However, we will have a free-love-offering jar out for people who wish to contribute to PURE's efforts to raise enough money to bring Kaeshi to town. So if you feel the urge to donate a dollar or two (or more) to the cause at the Holiday Hafla, we would welcome your contribution.

Anyone else planning on coming? There's been so little activity on Tribe lately, I'm becoming concerned people haven't gotten word about the hafla.

Fri, December 19, 2008 - 7:37 AMHooray! Roads are clear and the hafla's tonight. Just be careful on our driveway. I shoveled the walk and porch before the ice hit, though, so they're clear. We'll have music and dancing and good company. Looking forward to seeing all of you who can come. -

Re: Holiday Hafla
Fri, December 19, 2008 - 10:58 PMPhew! Almost 1 a.m., and the last guests just left the Holiday Hafla headed home. We had a nice mix of neighbors, old friends, dancers and drummers. More drummers than I expected. We danced. Then ate and drank. Both the hot buttered rum and the root beer bombs were well received. There were also a number of bottles of wine opened and a lot of bottled water consumed by thirst dancers. Then we danced & drummed again. Then ate and drank and talked politics and philosophy. Then we danced and drummed again.
I, personally, had a great time and hope everybody else did as well. Thank you for coming. And Happy Holidays.
