you know it's been a little while since the last cirque. could you give a bit more info? i remember it as a chance to do some out of the box stuff? also, i didn't get to go to muddslide so what would you be teaching?

Trying to tell you what I taught at MuddSlide is a mouthful since it's more an "experience" than a what ;o) ;o) ;o)
Zills, differnt ways to strike the zills, "Fancy Fingers", cueing the drummers while dancing, showing drummers how to drum as a group and produce "music" rather than all drumming the same thing, showing lead drummers how to modify the pattern to match what the dancer is dancing, the 1, 2, 3, 4 Hip Combination drill. Push-Pull drill.

What else ladies who attended? ;o) ;o) ;o) I know I chucked all I originally intended to teach because the group showed a need elsewhere in dance. I'm more interested in workshop participants feeling accomplished rather than shoving a bunch of stuff down their throats and no one getting it. So, we'll see how far we get at "Cirque..." It just very well may be a workshop series ;o) ;o) ;o)

As far as Cirque is concerned, yes, I'm open to more "outside the box" stuff. The original purpose of Cirque was to allow dancers to be more creative with belly dance--do that dance to that music you normally wouldn't present in other showcases, and to think more circusy; more specifically "Cirque du Soleil". One year a dancer performed what she called "Pinnochio" and brought in a fabulous opera singer to sing her music for her. She was a student dancer and the least accomplished in style, but I LOVED what she did in creativity.

Innana is also one of my favorite contributors. Actually, seeing one of her performances some time ago let me know that having "Cirque..." was possible.

I'm also encouraging hula hooping this year. Wish I had stuck in there with classes last fall so I could do some moves.
